UofG Sensor Enclosures

Recently we collaborated with the Urban Big Data Centre at University of Glasgow on a significant project. We manufactured 200 bespoke sensor enclosures for their study on indoor environments and fuel poverty. We worked with them to provide several iterations of prototypes to ratify the design, before commencing full production.

Scotchsport Sign

We designed and manufactured a sign used as a prop for famous Scottish comedian, McKallaster.

Vending Machine Inserts

A local company with a fleet of vending machines approached us. Due to moving to card payments only, the opening for accepting coins was defunct, and they were looking for ways to blank off the opening due to issues with vandalism.

The previously had inserts manufactured from metal, however they were looking for ways to reduce cost and lead times.

We obtained the necessary measurements and designed a 3D printed insert that blanked off the opening, with integrated M5 threaded inserts in the rear for mounting to the machine, and curved edges to reduce the risk of vandalism. We used PETG material for strength and durability.

We initially tested out the concept on decommissioned machines, and then manufactured a batch of these to be retrofitted to vending machines across the country. We reduced cost by 66% and cut lead times down from weeks to days.

Custom D&D Goblin

Customer had sketches of a goblin - a mythical Dungeons & Dragons character that he had created in his late father's honour. We worked with these sketches and turned them into a 3D model. We then manufactured the highly-detailed goblin from using SLA 3D printing technology.

Mackintosh Chairs

Customer wanted a special, custom Christmas gift for her Grandmother, to remind her of her husband who had sadly passed away. Her Grandmother and Grandfather were married in House for an Art Lover in Glasgow. We designed and 3D printed the Mackintosh chairs that were part of their special day. Using just a photograph of the late Grandfather's handwriting, we incorporated this into the 3D model - on a plinth with the words 'Always by your side x.'

Bronze Cast Sunbird

The customer approached us with a 3D file of a sunbird. We recommended the optimal manufacturing method and material, and made adjustments to the model to ensure that it would be robust enough once manufactured. The 3D printed sunbird was used to cast a Bronze replica which is now on show at the Timespan Heritage and Art Institution in Helmsdale, Scotland.

Outdoor Camera Cover

We designed and manufactured a custom Blink outdoor camera cover to protect the camera from the rain.

Microcontroller Mounting Plates

We were commissioned to design and manufacture custom mounting plates for a Microcontroller that slotted perfectly into the grooves of an existing box.

We really enjoyed working on this project! Kayleigh came to us with rough sketches and dimensions for a bespoke ring which we used to create and fine-tune a 3D model with Kayleigh's input. After agreeing on a final design we then manufactured the ring, which was then used to create a mold so that these could be made over and over again in metal.

If you don't have a 3D model to hand, we can create one for you! We charge a design fee which depends on the complexity of the model. If you have a 3D model (preferably STEP/STL format) then skip straight to step 4!

Next step is manufacturing. Time to manufacture will depend on the type of printing, number of units, availability of materials and 3D Scotland's manufacturing schedule.
